Davide Pagliarani

Davide Pagliarani (born October 25, 1970 in Rimini ) is an Italian traditionalist Catholic priest of the Society of St. Pius X and became Superior General on July 11, 2018 .

Life

In 1989 he entered the seminary of the Society of St. Pius X in Flavigny-sur-Ozerain . After graduating, he completed military service. He was ordained a priest in 1996 by the then Superior General, Bishop Bernard Fellay . He worked in Rimini for seven years before being transferred to Singapore for another three years. He then became superior of the Italian district between 2006 and 2012 and from 2012 rector of the Nuestra Señora Corredentora seminary in the province of Buenos Aires.

On July 11, 2018, the General Chapter of the Society of St. Pius X elected him as Superior General for twelve years. Pagliarani is believed to advocate a tougher approach to Vatican relations compared to his predecessor as Superior General, but he met Cardinal Luis Ladaria , President of the Ecclesia Dei Commission, in Vatican City on November 23, 2018 .
