Dawit Torosjan
Dawit Waranzi Torosjan ( Armenian Դավիթ Վարանցի Թորոսյան , Russian Давид Варанцович Торосян Dawid Waranzowitsch Torossjan ; born September 23, 1950 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR ) is a former Soviet boxer .
Torosjan was bronze medalist at the 1974 World Championships in Havana . In the semifinals he was defeated by the Cuban Luis Jorge Romero. It was similar for him at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal . Here he first beat Hassen Sheriff, Ethiopia ( where ), Giovanni Camputaro, Italy (RSC 2nd), and Ung Jo Jong, North Korea (5-0), before he was in the semifinals by disqualification in the second round against Ramón Duvalón , Cuba, retired.
After his boxing career, Torosjan became a coach in Armenia . He later emigrated to the USA and opened a gym in Glendale . Here he trained a. a. the Olympian Vanes Martirosyan .
