history

De Rosa was founded at the turn of the millennium by art student Martin John Henry (guitar and vocals) in Glasgow. Originally the five of them, there is soon only Henry left, who in 2003 gets reinforcements in the form of the brothers James (bass) and Neil Woodside (drums). The three signed their first record deal with the Gargleblast label in Glasgow, where their first single Camera / All Saints Day was released in July 2004 . Having heard of the band, John Peel encourages them to start recording their debut album Mend as soon as possible . Braced by Henry's studies, the production spanned a year and a half until Mend was finally released in June 2006. In the meantime, Camera will be released again as a single together with the track Amy's Song . The band's new label this time is Chemikal Underground. De Rosa received reinforcement shortly after the release of the debut album by Chris Connick, who previously worked in the studio and in live performances and is now an integral part of the band as lead guitarist. After releasing their debut, De Rosa toured the UK and Germany while working on songs for the follow-up, which will be released in March 2009 under the name Prevention . They receive support from Barry Burns ( Mogwai ), who says: "I seriously consider it one of the greatest honors of my career that I was asked to play some piano parts on this great recording". After the release of their second album, the band split up in the same year.
