De Tremais , first name unknown (before 1728 - after 1751 ) was a French composer and violinist .

Life

Nothing is known about De Tremai's life. Since his first name is also unknown, the prints of his works only bear the composer's mark “par M [onsieur] de Tremais” . The first collection appeared in 1736; his name was last mentioned in 1751 in a catalog by the publisher Leclerc. Since Giuseppe Tartini's influences can be seen in his compositions , it is assumed that he was a student of his. Some of the lost print publications of his compositions are mentioned in the publishing catalogs of Charles-Nicolas Leclerc, published from 1739 to 1768. In several of his sonatas De Tremais made use of the scordatura (retuning of the violin).
