De delictis gravioribus ( Latin about more serious crimes ) is the name of a letter in the first words of the heading that was written on May 18, 2001 by the then Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith , Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger , and all incumbent bishops, ordinaries, hierarchs and superiors of the throughout the Catholic Church, both in the Latin and in the Oriental rite churches.
