Debbi (born May 12, 1993 in Dortmund ; actually Deborah Kahl , also Kahlová in Czech ) is a German- born Czech pop singer .

biography

Deborah Kahl was born in Germany. Her grandfather was a pianist, her mother a singer, and she herself started playing the piano at the age of six. She took part in the casting show Česko Slovenská SuperStar in 2009 , where she was among the last 24, but then eliminated in the first semifinals. Then the producer Martin Ledvina took her on and she signed with Sony Music . Her debut single Možná se mi zdáš was released in mid-2010 and was a minor radio hit.

This was followed by the recording of the song Touch the Sun for a Metaxa commercial. Advertising made the song so popular that it climbed into the top 5 in the Czech charts. It was named song of the year. In spring 2011 Debbi released her debut album named after the single hit. It immediately rose to number one on the album charts. In addition to English and Czech-language songs, there is also a German-language song on the CD with Mein kleine green Kaktus by the Comedian Harmonists .

Debbi received the Anděl as singer of the year in 2017 .
