The Debeka BKK is a nationwide selectable Betriebskrankenkasse based in Koblenz . It was founded on January 1, 1995 as a company health insurance fund for Debeka employees and opened on September 1, 2003 for all those with statutory health insurance in Germany. Since then it has grown significantly and in July 2020 it had 147,000 insured persons.

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. From 2015 to 2018 the Debeka BKK levied an income-related additional contribution of 0.9 percent. From 2019 the additional contribution was 0.8 percent and since 2020 it has been 0.7 percent.

Board of Directors

In the course of the social elections in 2017, the Board of Directors was re-elected for the electoral period until 2023. It consists of six representatives from the insured and six from the employer. Alternating chairmen are Thomas Brahm (employer representative) and Hans-Jürgen Lambert (insured person representative).
