The Debeka is a German insurance group and building society based in Koblenz .
history
The company was founded on July 2nd, 1905 as a health benefit fund for the municipal officials of the Rhine Province . The founding meeting took place in the historic council chamber of the town hall of St. John of the town of St. Johann on the Saar instead (since 1909 a district of Saarbrücken ). The first chairman was the founder, the Koblenz city secretary Josef Funken . In 1906 the business was extended to Prussia and in 1910 to the whole of the German Empire . The new name was now health insurance for the municipal officials and employees of the German Reich mutual insurance association - seat of Coblenz am Rhein . The first full-time employees and apprentices were employed in 1923 and they moved into offices in the Alte Burg in Koblenz. From February 1925, the group of eligible persons was expanded to include Reich and state officials. On January 1, 1928, the corresponding name was changed to Deutsche Beamten-Krankenversicherung mutual insurance company based in Koblenz am Rhein, formerly the health insurance company for municipal officials and employees of the German Reich . The first full-time sales representatives were employed in 1932. From the initials D eutsche B eamten- K entwine insurance later developed by phonetic derivation of the current name Debeka .
