Debora Ley

Debora Ley (born November 8, 1978 ) is a Mexican environmental and energy scientist.

Life

Ley studied electromechanics at the Centro Universitario México from 1996 to 2001, at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2001/2 and received his PhD in environmental change from the University of Oxford in 2010 .

Act

Ley worked for the Mexican National Energy Saving Commission in the Cogeneration and Renewable Energy Departments , Sandia National Laboratories , the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Inter-American Development Bank with a focus on regional energy integration in Central America. Key achievements of her time at the United Nations include strategies for sustainable energy in the region and the inclusion of energy in the Millennium Development Goals . She also worked as a consultant for the Latin American Energy Organization with a focus on rural electrification in Nicaragua , the World Bank in the area of ​​evaluating its rural solar energy programs in Nicaragua and Honduras, and Chemonics in the area of ​​strategic planning for low-emission development in Mexico.

Ley is a volunteer with the Johns Hopkins Regional Engineers Without Borders group and has published a variety of articles on rural renewable electricity electrification , in particular technical rules and standards, and various topics relating to renewable energy, climate change and sustainable development .

Ley is one of the authors of the IPCC's special report on global warming of 1.5 degrees (2018).
