Decantae

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Celtic tribes in Northern Scotland

The Decanters ( ancient Greek Δεκάνται) were a Celtic tribe in Scotland , which is only passed down by the point 2, 38 in Ptolemy's Geographia . From the description of their neighboring tribes it can be concluded that their territory was on the west coast of the Moray Firth , more precisely Cromarty Firth . Ptolemy, however, does not name any capital or core area of the tribe. According to Ptolemy, they were adjacent to the Lugi , Smertae, and Caledonii .
