Degraded Faces is the debut album by the Swedish synth-pop band Elegant Machinery . It was released on Energy Records in 1991 .
The album was recorded in Holkya in the summer of 1990 by producer Jonas Warnebring , a former member of the band French Revolution (except for the titles Safety In Mind and A Little Sacrifice , which were from an earlier demo and recorded at Rogers Studio ) . The cover photo is by Fabio Chiarato and shows two masked people at the Venice Carnival .
The music on Degraded Faces is melodic synthpop that is very much influenced by 1980s British pop. The production is less smooth than on later Elegant Machinery albums .
