The Degussa Metals Catalysts Cerdec AG, shortly dmc² was a company that made the precious metal Scheideaktiviten, automotive catalysts and fuel cell business of Degussa -Hüls AG and its subsidiary Cerdec AG emerged in January 2000th The seat of DMC² (read: DMC quadrat ) was Hanau-Wolfgang .

In August 2000, DMC²'s gold and silver separating business was sold to Aurubis AG (formerly Norddeutsche Affinerie AG), Hamburg.

The original aim of the spin-off was to place the company on the stock exchange. Instead, however, the company was sold to the OM Group ( Cleveland / United States ) in August 2001 , which broke up the company and sold parts to Ferro (Cleveland / United States). Due to the financial difficulties of the OM Group in the United States , the remaining parts of the company (car catalysts, fuel cells, precious metal shops ) were completely sold to Umicore SA, based in Brussels , in the summer of 2003 .
