Delaware River Port Authority
The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) is the joint seaport authority (Port Authority) of the US states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey . It was created in 1951 and is primarily responsible for the major road bridges over the Delaware in the Philadelphia area. A passenger ferry and a cruise terminal are also part of their area of responsibility. With the PATCO Speedline , it also operates a high-speed rail link between Philadelphia and New Jersey.
In 2007, the DRPA employed a total of 891 people and had sales of $ 261 million. Around three quarters of the revenue came from the bridge tariffs . The DRPA has its own police authority to protect its infrastructure.
