Delcorf - also known under the brand name Delbarestivale , mostly abbreviated as Delba or Delbar - is a cultivar of the cultivated apple .

The summer apple plays an important role in crop cultivation as an early variety. The harvest time in Germany is between the end of August and the beginning of September. Delcorf was developed in the Delbard nursery in the municipality of Malicorne / canton Commentry in France from a cross of Stark Jon Grimes and Golden Delicious , and has been spread since 1982.

description

It is a summer apple , mostly used as a table apple , which is ripe from mid-August and can be stored until October / November.

The fruits are medium to large in size, tall and often cylindrical. They have a smooth shell with a greenish-yellow basic color and reddish stripes on the sunlit side. The taste is aromatic, sweet and mildly sour.

The fast-growing tree branches only weakly and forms steep branches. He has a strong tendency to alternate .

The variety is mainly grown for purchase. Due to its susceptibility to disease ( scab , powdery mildew , spider mites, etc.), the variety is not suitable for extensive cultivation (e.g. in the home garden).

Delcorf has to be harvested in several passes. The shelf life is comparatively good for an early variety.

Mutants

With Ambassy , Celeste , Bruggers Festivale , Eversdijk , Monidel , Apache and Sissired, there are some mutants of Delbarestivale that differ in their properties.
