  • The European Union Delegation to Ukraine ( Ukrainian Представництво Європейського Союзу в Україні ) is the European Union's representation in Ukraine and has the status of a diplomatic mission . It officially represents the European Union in Ukraine and is located in the Ukrainian capital Kiev .

    history

    In September 1993, the European Commission Delegation to Ukraine was opened at Kruhlouniwersytetska Street ( Круглоуніверситетська вулиця ) No. 10 in Kiev. After the Treaty of Lisbon came into force on December 1, 2009 , the Commission was transformed into the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine . In 2013 the mission was moved to a building at 101 Volodymyrska Street .

    tasks

    The delegation's mandate includes:

    • Promoting political and economic relations between Ukraine and the EU
    • Monitoring the implementation of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and Ukraine
    • The information about the European development and the justification of the EU policy towards the Ukrainian public
    • Support for the implementation of EU aid programs to Ukraine

    ambassador

    The EU's first ambassador to Ukraine was the British Ian Tindall Boag , who held this post from 2004 to 2008. He was followed on October 16, 2008 by the Portuguese Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira . From September 1, 2012 to August 2016, the Polish diplomat Jan Tombiński was the European Union's ambassador for Ukraine. The EU has been represented in Ukraine by Hugues Mingarelli since August 2016 .
