DeLía (born March 7, 1981 in Berlin ; real first name Denise , last name unknown) is a German pop singer .

She was born the middle of three siblings and grew up in Schwanebeck . After graduating from the Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Gymnasium in Berlin-Buch , she began studying cultural studies at the Viadrina European University in Frankfurt (Oder) .

Her musical career began at the age of 16 when she started a band with three friends Janine, Irina and Katta. She was chosen as a singer by drawing lots. As a result, she served as a front woman in other bands, but the commercial success failed to materialize. Eventually she was discovered by a producer auditioning for an advertising trailer with whom she recorded her self-written debut single Du Wichser . The song is musically based on the chanson-like style of Annett Louisan . In the text, constructed as a superficial provocation, she settles accounts with her former boyfriend, whom she repeatedly fell for.

After its release at the end of March 2006, the single hit the charts in Germany and Austria. An album was planned. However, this was never published.
