Demetrius Eremias Ward (born August 20, 1990 in Detroit ) is an American basketball player .

career

Ward played at Pershing High School in his hometown of Detroit and then between 2008 and 2012 for the college team at Western Michigan University in the first division of the NCAA . In a total of 130 games for Western Michigan, the development player averaged 7.9 points, got 3.4 rebounds and distributed 1.8 basket assists per encounter.

After graduating from university, Ward accepted an offer from the Dukes of Wolfenbüttel and from then on worked as a professional basketball player in Germany. In 2014, he was relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga ProB to the regional league with Lower Saxony and managed to get promoted again with the team. Ward acted as player-coach in the championship year and was named the best player in the Regionalliga Nord in the 2014/15 season by the internet service eurobasket.com . In addition to his duties as a player, Ward worked as a coach in the youth division of SG MTV / BG Wolfenbüttel. During the 2016/17 season, Ward again took over the position of player-coach with the dukes. In the 2017/18 season, the American was a player in Wolfenbüttel and at the same time coach of the U19 team of Basketball Löwen Braunschweig in the youth basketball league . During his six-year time in Wolfenbüttel, Ward became a favorite of the dukes' supporters, was team captain and was described as a figure of identification. Ward recorded his highest point average during this time during the 2016/17 game year when he scored 18.8 points per game.

During the summer break of 2018, he accepted an offer from Paderborn Baskets and thus switched to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA .
