Dempsey Cothrin Wilson (born March 11, 1927 in Los Angeles , † April 23, 1971 there ) was an American automobile racing driver .

Career

Dempsey Wilson drove in 1956 , in the years between 1958 and 1965 as well as 1968 and 1969 in the USAC racing series . In total, he came to 32 races. He also competed four times in the Indianapolis 500 . Since the 500 miles were part of the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960, Wilson has two World Championship races in the statistics. In both 1958 and 1960 he could not achieve any points. Wilson was not one of the successful drivers in this racing series. His best finish was eighth in the Milwaukee race in 1960.
