Sport is a daily newspaper in the Czech Republic devoted exclusively to sport . The focus is on the most popular sports in the Czech Republic, soccer and ice hockey . The editorial office is in Prague , the editor-in-chief is Zbyšek Pechr (as of September 2006).

The circulation is around 70,000 copies and the newspaper is read by over 300,000 people. Sport is published Monday through Sunday and costs 10  crowns . On Fridays the newspaper contains the Sport magazín supplement and costs 14 crowns. The newspaper appears in four regional editions, which differ only insignificantly. ( Prague , Bohemia , North Moravia and South Moravia ). The entire printed content of the respective day is accessible on the Internet every day from 7:00 p.m.

history

The newspaper was first published in 1952 under the name Československý sport . In 1992 the Československý sport, sro Ltd. was founded. In 2001, Ringier bought 51% of the publisher Československý sport, sro After further acquisitions, Ringier acquired the remaining shares in the company on November 1, 2003. Until 2004, the supplement that appeared on Fridays was called VOLNO . Since 2005 there has also been a Sunday edition, until then the newspaper only appeared from Monday to Saturday. In 2014, the media company Czech News Center bought Ringier CZ from Daniel Křetínský .
