Daniel Křetínský

Daniel Křetínský (born July 9, 1975 in Brno ) is a Czech entrepreneur.

Life

Daniel Křetínský is the son of the computer scientist Mojmír Křetínský and the lawyer and former judge at the Czech Constitutional Court Michaela Židlická . He has been in a relationship with the show jumper Anna Kellnerová, daughter of the entrepreneur Petr Kellner , since 2017 .

Křetínský studied law at the Masaryk University in Brno and received his doctorate. In 1999 he joined the investment firm J&T and became a partner there in 2003. In 2009 J&T founded Energetický a Průmyslový Holding (EPH), and Křetínský became chairman with initially 20% of the shares in the company, before later becoming the majority shareholder (as of 2019: 94 percent). In 2016, EPH took over the Lusatian lignite division of the Vattenfall energy company, including power plants and opencast mines, for one symbolic euro . In 2018, the EPH, which spans around 70 companies, had almost 25,000 employees. In 2017, EPH generated sales of around six billion euros and operating income of 1.9 billion euros.

In 2011 the company EP Global Commerce (EPGC) was spun off, in which he now holds 53% of the shares, and EPGC in turn acquired shares in the trading company Metro AG in 2018 . In July 2019, EP Global Commerce made a takeover offer that the other major Metro shareholders rejected.

Křetínský is also the majority shareholder of the corporate holding Czech Media Invest (CMI), which owns several Czech print and radio media, including the tabloid Blesk . In October 2019, CMI acquired a four percent stake in the German media group ProSiebenSat.1 and announced further future investments in European media companies.

Křetínský has been a co-owner and president of the Sparta Prague football club since 2004 .
