Petr Kellner was born in Česká Lípa, he spent his youth in Liberec , where he graduated from secondary business school with a high school diploma in 1982 . Four years later he finished his studies at the University of Economics in Prague with a major in industrial economics .

Kellner was married for the second time and has four children. His daughter Anna Kellnerová (* 1996) is an internationally successful show jumper and has a relationship with the entrepreneur Daniel Křetínský .

Kellner and four other inmates were killed in a helicopter crash during a heliskiing tour in Alaska at the end of March 2021 .

Career as an entrepreneur

In 1991 he became a co-founder of the PPF Group (První privatizační fond, First Privatization Fund ) , an investment company that emerged as part of the coupon privatization of public property.

During his 20 years in the mutual fund, PPF became one of the largest investment and financial groups in Central and Eastern Europe. Petr Kellner was the co-founder and majority shareholder of this group, which is primarily involved in banking, insurance, energy, retail and real estate in the Czech Republic , Slovakia , Russia , Belarus , Kazakhstan , China , Vietnam and other countries.

Further activities of the group of companies were in particular the purchase of the lignite division of the Swedish state group Vattenfall, which has been planned since 2015 .
