Ivan Kočárník

Ivan Kočárník (born November 29, 1944 in Třebonín , Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia ) is a Czech economic manager and politician of the Civic Democratic Party ODS ( Občanská democická strana ) , who was, among other things, a member of the House of Representatives , Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister.

Life

After attending school, Kočárník studied economics at the Prague University of Economics and then worked as an economist. Between 1988 and 1989 he belonged to the then Communist Party KSČ (Komunistická strana Československa) . Between June 6 and December 31, 1992, he was a member of the Czech National Council as a representative of the Civic Democratic Party ODS ( Občanská democická strana ) . He was Deputy Prime Minister in the first and second government of Prime Minister Václav Klaus from July 2, 1992 to June 2, 1997. At the same time, he also held the post of finance minister during this time. He also represented the ODS from June 1, 1996 to June 19, 1998 as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic . On May 24, 1997, he announced his resignation as minister. After leaving parliament and government, he became involved in the investment company PPF Group founded by Petr Kellner .
