Stefano Zandri (born June 4, 1962 in Nova Milanese , Italy ) is an Italian dressman . He was the face of the Den Harrow project and became one of the best known and most successful entertainers in the Italo Disco field in the 1980s. Zandri moved his lips to playbacks on stage and in video clips . The voice was first contributed by Chuck Rolando, later Silvio Pozzoli , Tom Hooker and Anthony James until 1991 . Zandri, who still uses the name Den Harrow as a pseudonym , first admitted in 2012 that he had never sung the pieces of music in the 1980s.

biography

The former dressman and hobby designer was discovered in a Milan discotheque to present the songs of the producers Chieregato and Turatti. The stage name Den Harrow was derived from the Italian word Denaro , which means "money". He took singing lessons, but it turned out that he couldn't hold a note at all. A studio singer was hired to sing his singles and albums. Harrow was able to record hits all over Europe, the two albums Overpower (1985) and Day by Day (1987) alone contained eight top ten singles. In Germany, Harrow won the golden Otto der Bravo in 1987 as the most popular singer and relegated Michael Jackson to second place.

Tom Hooker, the studio singer of the two previous hit albums, was no longer available as a singer for the third album; he wanted to bring out his self-written songs under his own name and no longer have Harrow play them as playback. Harrow's voice sounded completely different on his third album - it was sung by a new studio singer. He also tried to sing himself when performing live - the dizziness was finally exposed. Tom Hooker, the singer of Bad Boy , Future Brain or Don't Break My Heart , said in an interview: “Den was really one of the greatest entertainers. It's tragic that he couldn't sing. ”In 2009 Den Harrow started a comeback attempt in Europe with Gabry Ponte as producer.
