The Dena massif is part of the Zāgros Mountains in Iran, which extend over 1500 km . It is located in central Zāgros near the city of Yasudj . The highest peak of the massif is the 4409 m high Qash Mastan, which is also the highest peak in the entire Zāgros Mountains.

The Austrian explorer Theodor Kotschy explored the Zāgros Mountains in 1842 and reached the Dena massif on July 6th. Kotschy spent the rest of the month exploring the flora and fauna there and finally climbed the Qash Mastan on August 2nd .

On February 18, 2018, Iran-Aseman Airlines flight 3704 had an accident in the Dena massif. All 66 participants in the flight were killed.
