The Denali State Park is a 1,316 sq km large, was established in 1970 and 1976 expanded to its current size State Park in the US state of Alaska . It is east of the Alaska Range and Denali National Park , which it directly borders, and west of the Talkeetna Mountains . The George Parks Highway , the main link between Anchorage and Fairbanks , runs north-south through the park.
The landscape of Denali State Park ranges from lowlands with meandering rivers over alpine tundra to the Curry and Kesugi mountain ridges in the eastern part. With the exception of two areas for day trips, three camping sites and two entrances to hiking trails in undeveloped nature.
The entire park is the habitat of moose , black and grizzly bears and also of smaller mammals such as lynxes , coyotes , wolverines , pikas and marmots . Even wolves roam the area. Reindeer herds occasionally reach the northern part. More than 130 species of birds nest in the park or reach it during migration .
