Denis Eydoux

Charles Marie Denis Hyacinthe Eydoux (born September 3, 1876 in Carpentras , Département Vaucluse , † 14 April 1969 in Pont-Saint-Esprit , Département Gard ) was a French engineer in the state road and bridge administration (Ponts et Chaussée) and professor for hydraulics.

He studied at the École polytechnique from 1896 and was its Directeur d´Etudes from 1925 to 1941.

Eydoux received the Poncelet Prize in 1925 .

In 1932, his arrest on the Yugoslav-Italian border for espionage through Italy caused a scandal. Eydoux was on vacation in the Alps and also visited Italian hydraulic engineering facilities. He was released after a year in prison.
