Denis Favier
Denis Favier (born May 18, 1959 in Lons-le-Saunier ) is a French général d'armée and director of the national gendarmerie .
Life
Denis Favier attended the Saint-Cyr Military School in 1981 . In 1992 he was appointed commander of the Groupe d'intervention de la gendarmerie nationale (GIGN) and promoted to commandant in 1994 . He found his first major probation in 1994 when he was used against the hijackers of Air France flight 8969 . After various assignments, he became a general in the French army in 2008. Since 2013 Favier has been director of the national gendarmerie. In January 2015, he took over the investigation into the attack on Charlie Hebdo .
