Denise Osborn

Denise Rae Osborn (* 23. November 1948 ) is an Australian - British economist and retired high school teacher .

Career, research and teaching

Osborn studied at the University of Sydney , where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1970 and a Master of Science in 1972 . She then continued her Ph.D. - Graduated from the London School of Economics in 1976. She then joined the academic staff of the University of Manchester as a lecturer , in 1989 she was promoted to senior lecturer and three years later was appointed full professor . Between 1996 and 2013 she held the Robert Ottley Chair for Econometrics at the university, after two years as a part-time professor she retired. Between 1994 and 1997 she was Director of Research for Research at the University's School of Economic Studies , then until 2002 she headed the School of Economic Studies .

Osborne's main focus is on applied time series analysis , in particular on the seasonality of economic variables and the dynamic modeling of macroeconomic relationships.

Osborne was particularly involved in the Royal Economic Society . In 1996 she was founding chairwoman of the organization's women's committee, of which she became general secretary - as the first woman in history - to become in 2015.
