Depth of thought

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The depth of thought is the ability of a player or a program to plan moves in advance and to create a decision tree that includes possible decisions of other players in order to be able to make the most favorable decisions. In games like chess , the rules of which do not provide a source of chance , the possible depth of thought is unlimited, while games with random components require a probabilistic analysis of the random components, which can limit the meaningful depth of thought .
