Dennis Bauer

Dennis Bauer (born December 18, 1980 in Koblenz ) is a former German fencer who won an Olympic bronze medal with the saber team in 2000.

Life

The athlete trained by Eberhard Mehl at CTG Koblenz was cadet world champion and junior European champion in the individual competition in 1997 and junior world champion in the individual and team competition in 2000. At the World Cup tournament in Bonn in 1999, he finished second. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he was eliminated from the individual competition in the third round and finished 14th. In the team competition he had an almost even hit ratio against Italy and France, in the battle for bronze against the Romanian fencers he contributed 15:11 hits. Dennis Bauer, Wiradech Kothny and Alexander Weber won the bronze medal, the first Olympic medal for German saber fencers since 1936. In 2001, Bauer won the German championship with the saber. At the World Fencing Championships in 2002 gained Michael Herm , Alexander Weber, Harald Stehr and Dennis Bauer the bronze medal.
