Dennis Brown

Dennis Emmanuel Brown (born February 1, 1957 in Kingston ; † July 1, 1999 there ) is one of the most famous reggae singers from Jamaica . His work consists of over 75 albums that he recorded from the early 1970s until his death. Brown was considered the favorite singer of Bob Marley .

Brown's health was severely damaged by longstanding cocaine use in the early 1990s . In May 1999, while on a tour of Brazil, the doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia . When he was back in Kingston, Brown was admitted to Kingston University Hospital on June 30, 1999 for cardiac arrest. He died just a day later. Pneumothorax is named as the official cause of death . Brown left a wife and a total of 13 children.
