Deos ( Latin The Gods ) was a funeral doom band founded in 2013 and disbanded in 2015 .

history

The Romanian Daniel "Klepsy" Neagoe, who lives in London and who became famous with groups like Eye of Solitude and Clouds , founded Deos together with the Romanian Alexandru "Coza" Cozaciuc from Descend into Despair, who also lives in London, and the Bulgarian Olmo " Déhà “Lipani by SLOW , Imber Luminis and God Eat God 2013 as a studio project. Deos was meanwhile considered a project by Neago, who largely reserved the writing of the lyrics and the songwriting.

The group released two albums that were initially self-published via Bandcamp for download and later on physical sound carriers via GS Productions . Fortitude.Pain.Suffering 2014 and a year later … to Depart . The music was received benevolently and with reference to the musicians involved as "high-class Funeral Doom" and although there was no innovation in the work of the band, it was "an example of original Funeral Doom Metal, which is from real genre- Icons and was recorded with care. ”After the release of the second album, the musicians stopped using deodorants and concentrated on other projects.

style

The music described by the webzine Doom-Metal.com as original Funeral Doom is compared in particular with that of Eye of Solitude . The group itself describes their style as "Depressive Funeral Doom".

The music has all "typical and conventional characteristics" for the genre. The vocals are presented as a sustained, quiet growling , while keyboard arrangements that are present throughout are in dialogue with the guitar playing described as "tragic and sad". "The disturbing yet beautiful melodies develop slowly, creating a sense of something sublime and dramatic that is playing in the background." The pieces are connected to one another via a recurring incorporated sampling and, according to reviewers, convey a " catatonic to sullen" feeling of "abandonment and desolation" without escalating into "nervousness or hysterical despair".
