The Magallanes Department is located in the east of the Santa Cruz Province in southern Argentina and is one of the seven administrative units in the province. With 19,805 km² it is the smallest department in the province in terms of area.

It borders the Deseado Department in the north, the Atlantic Ocean in the east, the Corpen Aike Department in the south and the Río Chico Department in the west .

The capital of the Magallanes department is Puerto San Julián .
