The Deseado Department is located in the northeast of the Santa Cruz Province in southern Argentina and is one of the seven administrative units in the province.

It borders the province of Chubut to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Magallanes department to the south and the Lago Buenos Aires department to the west .

The capital of the Deseado department is Puerto Deseado .
