The Pilagás Department is located in the northwest of the Formosa Province in northern Argentina and is one of nine administrative units in the province. It borders Paraguay to the north, the Pilcomayo department to the east, the Pirané department to the south and the Patiño department to the west .

The capital of the Pilagás Department is El Espinillo .
