The Bermejo department is located in the northwest of the Formosa Province in northern Argentina and is one of nine administrative units in the province.
It borders Paraguay to the north, the Patiño department to the east, the Chaco province to the south, and the Ramón Lista department and the Matacos department to the west .
The capital of the department is Laguna Yema .
