Laguna Yema is the capital of the Bermejo department in the Formosa province in northern Argentina . It is located 380 kilometers from the provincial capital Formosa , with which it is connected via the Ruta Nacional 81 . In the classification of the municipalities of the province it belongs to the municipalities ( Municipio ) of the 3rd category.
history
The town was founded in the course of the construction of the Formosa - Embarcación railway line in 1925 .
Economy and tourism
In the 1980s, the 14,500 hectare Laguna Yema reservoir was dammed as a water reserve. It covers the original village of Wichi chief Yema . The reservoir is used to supply drinking water and irrigate the region as far as Las Lomitas, about 78 kilometers from the reservoir. It is used for tourism for photo safaris, birdwatching and sport fishing.
