Deportes Savio

Deportes Savio is a Honduran football club from Santa Rosa de Copán . The club currently plays in the first Honduran league, the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras . The club colors are red and white. The club plays its home games in the Estadio Miraflores, which has a capacity of 3,000. Deportes Savio's nicknames are Los Toros Rojos, Los Totoposteros, and Los Benjamines .

history

Deportes Savio was founded in 1964 as Atlético Lempira . In 1971 they changed their name to Santo Domingo Savio at the urging of Padre Chavarría, who wanted to integrate the team as part of the Instituto Santo Domingo Savio in Santa Rosa de Copán. In 1995 the new board bought the license from Deportes Progreseño , a second-rate club, and changed the club name to Deportes Savio.

In 1999 the club rose to the first Honduran league, but were last in the 2001/2002 season and were relegated back to the second division. 2006/2007 rose again after Deportes Savio won the playoff games against Arsenal FC . In 2007, the team was fifth and third in the audience table. The 2007/2008 season ended Deportes Savio in ninth place in the table.
