Depot II from Prague-Liboc

The Depot II von Prag-Liboc (also Hortfund II von Prag-Liboc ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Liboc , a district of Prague , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the National Museum in Prague.

Find history

The depot was discovered before 1900. The exact circumstances of the find are unknown. The site is located on the spur of the Džibán mountain. There was a Bronze Age hill settlement there .

It is one of numerous depot finds from the urban area of ​​Prague. Two further depots ( I and III ) and several individual bronze objects from the Aunjetitz culture were found in Liboc .

composition

The depot consists of four bronze objects : two arm spirals and two edge ridge axes . The spirals are made of ribbons with a lens-shaped cross-section. Both of them have recently broken off one end. The ends obtained are thickened and rounded. The axes have an arched edge with two facets and a thickened central part. The nape of the first ax is arched, the second thinned and bluntly pointed. The narrow sides of the first ax have three facets.
