Slaný Depot IV
The Slaný Depot IV (also Hortfund IV von Slaný ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Slaný in Středočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the Slaný Museum.
Find history
The depot was discovered before 1944 east of Slaný on Slánská hora (Salt Mountain ) when removing cultural layers in a quarry. The area was very densely populated in the Bronze Age, but older traces of settlement from the Neolithic and the Copper Age as well as younger ones from the Iron Age and the Middle Ages are proven.
There are three other depot finds ( I , II and III ) and several individual finds from the Aunjetitz culture from the Salzberg .
composition
The depot consists of two bronze objects : an awl and a chain. The awl has a swelling in the middle. One end has a point, the other remains of an edging made of organic material (perhaps wood). The chain consists of four rings made of thin, double wire. A ring has recently broken.
