Depot I from Slaný
The Depot I of Slaný (also hoard I Slaný ) is a hoard of Early Bronze Age Unetice culture of Slaný in Středočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the National Museum in Prague .
Find history
The depot was discovered in May or June 1896 east of Slaný during an archaeological dig on the east side of Slánská hora (Salt Mountain ). The area was very densely populated in the Bronze Age, but older traces of settlement from the Neolithic and the Copper Age as well as younger ones from the Iron Age and the Middle Ages are proven. The depot was 2 m deep. Two basalt stones lay 20 cm above this , possibly as a cover. At the same level as the finds a fire pit was uncovered in only 0.5-1 m spacing, in animal bones, deer antlers and a bronze - pearl found. It is unclear whether there is a direct connection to the depot.
There are three other depot finds ( II , III and IV ) and several individual finds from the Aunjetitz culture from the Salzberg .
composition
The depot consists of five bronze edging axes of two different types. The axes were arranged. At the bottom were three and on top of them were the other two. All axes pointed in the same direction.
