Slaný Depot II

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Slaný Depot II (also Hortfund II von Slaný ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Slaný in Středočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the National Museum in Prague .

Find history

The depot was discovered east of Slaný in 1942 during an archaeological rescue excavation on Slánská hora (salt mountain). The area was very densely populated in the Bronze Age, but older traces of settlement from the Neolithic and the Copper Age as well as younger ones from the Iron Age and the Middle Ages are proven. The depot was in natural ground with a black earth character .

There are three other depot finds ( I , III and IV ) and several individual finds from the Aunjetitz culture from the Salzberg .

composition

The depot consists of six bronze decorative disks (faleren). The discs are all very similar. They are cast and have a hollow, conical hump in the middle and two opposing holes on the central axis. The edges are lined with rectangular compartments. These were filled with resin, from which brownish discoloration has been preserved. One disc has a lateral rectangular tail, which is also perforated and decorated with fans. The disks were found stacked; the disc with the tail was at the bottom.
