On November 8, 1981, a Douglas DC-9-32 of Aeroméxico , with which a domestic scheduled flight from Acapulco to Guadalajara was to be operated, crashed on Aeroméxico flight 110 (flight number IATA : AM110 , ICAO : AMX110 , radio call sign: AEROMEXICO 110 ) , 65 Kilometers east of Zihuatanejo . All 18 occupants died in the accident.

The twin narrow-body aircraft was equipped with two Turbojettriebwerken type Pratt & Whitney JT8D-17 equipped.

The flight from Acapulco airport to airport Guadalajara had begun 12 passengers. There was a six-person crew on board the machine, consisting of a flight captain , a first officer and four flight attendants .
the accident
On the flight from Acapulco to Guadalajara at a cruising altitude of 31,000 feet and after about 35 minutes of flight time, there was a problem with the cabin pressure . The captain announced by radio that he wanted to return to Acapulco. He initiated an emergency descent. Over the mountains of the Sierra de Guerro, the machine collided with a mountain at an altitude of 6,000 feet, killing all 18 occupants.

Failure to follow emergency procedures was found to be the cause of the accident.
