Ovčáry depot I

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ovčáry Depot I (also Hortfund I from Ovčáry ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Ovčáry u Kolína in Středočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the Kolín Museum .

Find history

The depot was discovered south of Ovčáry during stream regulation work. The exact date of the find is unknown; it was first mentioned in 1936. The site was originally a damp lowland.

From Ovčáry there are two other finds ( II and III ) as well as a single bar from the Aunjetitz culture. The sites of the three depots are each more than 1 km apart, but there are lines of sight. The similarity of the found objects also suggests a connection.

composition

The depot consists of two bronze eyelet neck rings or ring bars . They are made from a rod with a triangular cross-section and have driven, narrowed, hook-shaped ends.
