from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Opolany Depot (also known as the Opolany hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Opolany in Středočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The remaining part of the depot is now in the Poděbrady Museum .

Find history

The depot was discovered in 1984 during a field inspection on the southwestern outskirts of Opolany . The site is on the northern edge of the Cidlina river valley .

composition

The deposit is only partially preserved. Only a tongue-shaped decorative plate (Falere) made of 1-2 mm thick bronze sheet was found . The top is decorated with incisions and notches. There are two rivet holes roughly in the middle of the disc. The rivets originally included a base made of organic material. The disk has a length of 50 mm and a width of 15 mm. On the underside of the disc, impressions of two circular objects (probably neck rings) can be clearly seen in the patina . This proves that it originally lay with several other objects and was probably relocated.
