Soběslav depot

The Soběslav Depot (also known as the Soběslav hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Soběslav in Jihočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates to between 1800 and 1600 BC. The objects still preserved from the depot are now in the museum in Tábor .

Find history

The depot was discovered in the spring of 1905 while plowing northwest of Soběslav. The site is in the floodplain on the west bank of the Lužnice . The river describes an arc here, but it is unclear whether it already had this course in the Bronze Age . After the discovery of the depot, an archaeological follow-up investigation was carried out, during which prehistoric settlement remains were found at the site.

composition

The depot originally consisted of 15 bronze bars . Ten of these are still preserved. Four copies are complete, two have recently broken and four have recently broken off. The length of the complete specimen is between 210 mm and 226 mm, the weight between 169 g and 188 g.
