Stradonice depot (Peruc)

The Stradonice depot (also known as the Stradonice hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Stradonice , a district of Peruc in Ústecký kraj , Czech Republic . It dates to between 1800 and 1600 BC. The objects still preserved in the depot are now in the museum in Louny .

Find history

The depot was discovered on May 22, 1940 while clearing tree stumps in the Šebín forest east of Stradonice. The exact location is unknown.

composition

The depot consists of several bronze bars . Two copies are completely preserved, 16 are damaged and two are only fragments. The bars are rib-shaped and usually have spoon-shaped hammered ends. The heaviest specimen weighs 75 g. The total weight of the items is 1.35 kg. Václav Moucha estimates that the length of the individual bars was originally between 231 mm and 297 mm and their weight between 65 g and 78 g.
