The inspector ( Engl. The Inspector ) is the title of a series of cartoons of the studio DePatie-Freleng Enterprises . The series was distributed by United Artists .

The series is about a clumsy Parisian inspector who is convinced of his skills, but overlooks all the clues to solve the cases. Ultimately, however, he can clear up the cases through sheer luck.

He is accompanied by Sergeant Deux-Deux . One of the running gags of the series is that when chasing a suspect, the inspector says to the driver of a car "Follow the car" before he gets in. So the driver races after the strange car without him.

Emergence

The figure first appeared in the opening credits of Inspector Clouseau film A Shot in the Dark ( A Shot in the Dark , 1964), in which he represented the inspector. A series was later dedicated to him, but his name was never mentioned.

Production and publication

The first film of the series of gallstone the inspector (The Great De Gaulle Stone Operation) was 1965. After a total of 34 short films, the series was the darn cart (Carte Blanched) 1969 set. The films were shown in the television series Der Rosarote Panther , "Der Inspektor" did not get its own series. In the German dubbed versions, Erich Ebert gave the character his unmistakable voice, ignoring the French accent of the original. Harald Baerow lent his voice to his assistant, Sergeant Deux-Deux (Eng .: Dudu ) . The part of the Commissioner was of Walter Reichelt taken. On November 15, 2009, hr-fernsehen broadcast all 34 episodes of the inspector as part of a theme night. All 34 episodes were translated by Eberhard Storeck .

Comic

From July 1974 to February 1978, Gold Key published 19 comics with the inspector.
