The chef (original title: The Cook ) is an American short film - slapstick - comedy from 1918 with Roscoe Arbuckle and Buster Keaton in the lead roles.

action

In the kitchen of a restaurant, Roscoe Arbuckle performs numerous gags with the food and kitchen utensils there. Once arranged, he throws the food and drinks to Buster Keaton, who cleverly catches them as a waiter in order to serve them to the guests. After the appearance of an exotic dancer, the bar is stormed by a rowdy who forces the cashier to dance. None of the men present is able to stop him. Ultimately, it is only through the kitchen dog that it succeeds in chasing him away. Later on, restaurant owners and staff deal with finding the best solution for eating spaghetti .

The employees have a leisurely afternoon off. The cook takes the kitchen dog to the beach, where they can catch a large fish. The waiter has a date with the cashier, who is harassed again by the rowdy, has to flee on a roller coaster standing on the beach and, in dire need, jumps down into the ocean from above. While the kitchen dog is chasing the rowdy, the waiter, with the help of the cook, saves the cashier, presumably.

premiere

The cook premiered in the United States on September 15, 1918.
