The man at the piano is a hit that was composed by Horst Heinz Henning . Henning wrote the text under his alias Heinz Therningsohn . The song was recorded by Paul Kuhn in 1954 and published by Elektrola .

Kuhn, who saw himself more as a jazz musician and was fond of swing, recorded the song Der Mann am Klavier at the insistence of his record company. The song was extremely successful, selling over 250,000 copies. Over time, the title has become synonymous with Paul Kuhn.
